Prepare the project details
Before discussing a window or door project, make a list of the openings involved and note which are replacements and which are part of new construction. Photos taken from inside and outside can help you keep track of existing styles and conditions. For a condominium or commercial property, it may also help to gather relevant plans, building requirements, and any coordination details that apply. These are general preparation steps, not a statement about the company’s process.
Compare products by use and fit
Start by deciding whether you are considering impact or non-impact products, then compare the specific opening and style. For windows, think about how you want each one to open and the space available around it. For doors, consider the opening, the way people move through it, and any preferences about appearance or privacy. Write down the priorities that matter most so product choices can be weighed against the project’s practical needs.
Clarify scope and location
A useful project inquiry can identify the property type, approximate number of windows or doors, and whether the work is replacement or new construction. Include the project ZIP code when checking coverage. If the property is part of a condominium or commercial building, note any building-level requirements or scheduling constraints you already know about. Confirming those details early can make it easier to identify what still needs to be decided.
